The 2018 World AeroPress Championship (W.A.C.) season is well on it’s way and we are excited to play our small part in it!

The W.A.C. is a multinational competition focused on the Aeropress brewing method. Competitors all over the world gather locally to qualify to the world finals, crafting their own methods and recipes for using this super easy, portable device. In this exciting, multi-round elimination tournament, three individual competitors fabricate their signature recipes and present them to a panel of judges who select a winner. They vote on their favorite drink based on taste. No score sheets or discussion, it is 100% personal preference.

Their creators, state that “At it’s heart, the World AeroPress Championship exists to bring coffee-loving people together in an open, inclusive, and fun environment.”

Baratza has made a priority to support the coffee community, and this event is the perfect opportunity for us to do that. Our partnership with the W.A.C. began back in 2014 when we were the prize sponsors for the first US national event, we fell in love with this free form competition that allows coffee professionals and home baristas to express their caffeinated creativity through personalized Aeropress recipes on a level playing field. Since then, we have supported the WAC at different levels – regional, national, and worldwide.

Working with the team at W.A.C has been as easy and approachable as the event is and we love that! Especially since that is a big part of our own company’s goal – wherever you are in your journey of coffee, we have a grinder for you. As we say – “we grind, you brew.”

AeroPress and Baratza have a great fit in the niche of specialty coffee industry. Baratza has become the home grinder of choice for many baristas, roasters, and café [owners] around the world and that’s why we choose to support coffee competitions. It is our way of giving back to those who have helped build our brand and who do that on a daily basis by drinking better coffee.

We hope you get a chance to experience this event where ever you are and help us support the coffee community. You can find a list of locations worldwide here for the 2018 season.
